How to Keep Kids from Bringing Nasty Bug Home from School

A bug that was spread through area pools this summer is still around as kids head back to school.

The parasite cryptosporidium sickened many central Iowans who ingested contaminated water at area pools this summer.

With school resuming, there's a new way to spread the bug: from kid to kid.

It's most important to keep kids -- or adults -- home if they have diarrhea to give their bodies time to recover.

Second, wash hands every time the bathroom is used, using warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds.
