With the 2012 Iowa State Fair in the history books, local Johnston residents are celebrating their hard work.

- Natalie Ridgway placed third in the Zart 1312 Edible Wedding Decorations
Fabric and Threads Toys and Dolls contest
Louise Whitlow placed third in the stuffed toy, other than bear, jointed
Amanda Arthur-Sturss placed third in the stuffed toy, other than bear, jointed portion and first in the stuffed toy, other than bear, non-jointed

Doll Houses and Miniature Rooms competition
- Elissa Krause placed first in the junior class
Fabric and Threads Hand Knitting contest
- Marilyn Bergman placed third in the Children's Cardigan Sweater
- Renee Petrie placed first in the Toy
- Linda Stroh Anderson placed first in the Scarf - Eyelash or other Novelty Yarn category, second in the Socks/Slippers category and honorable mention in the Cardigan Sweater
Adventureland Park Intermediate Division contest:
- Shawn McGuire placed second in the bars other category, third in cheese soup, second in unbaked cookies.
- Spencer Ridgeway placed third in the twice baked potatoes category, second in deviled eggs, third in cheese soup, first in whole wheat bread, zucchini bread, first in jam bars, honorable mention for ginger snaps, second in M&M cookies, and second in poke and pour cake.
- Sophia Ridgeway placed second in the twice baked potatoes category, third in the seven layer dip category, third in deviled eggs, second in panini, first in fruit desert, first in cake balls, honorable mention in peanut butter balls, second in meringues, third in jam bars, first in ginger snaps, second in all butter cookies, first in oatmeal cookies with raisins or other fruits.
- Kyle McGuire placed third in party mix-non-sweet, third in s'mores, third in peanut butter balls, third in sandwich cookies.
Fabric and Threads Crochet Contest:
- Louise Whitlow placed second in framed crochet item, second in dresser scarf or runner, first in afghan ripple pattern, honorable mention in afghan other, honorable mention in shawl/poncho, third in lace edging and first in holiday decoration.
Fabric and Threads Quilting Contest:
- Katheryn Russi placed fourth in scrap.
- Sharon Meisenheimer received honorable mention in wall quilt - mixed technique and third in miniature quits applique.
- Gretta Wilkinson received honorable mention in the wall quilt-mixed technique less than 144inches.
- Kris Kittrell placed third in the miniature quilts, first in miniature quilts applique and first in table runner applique.
