Johnston High School Technology/Engineering Department is 'Program of Excellence'
The schools program received recognition at a conference in California on March 15.
Everyone knows programs at are top notch.
Now, one is being recognized nationally.
The Technology and Engineering Program received the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association's Program Excellence Award.

Becoming a Program of Excellence winner is an indication of the dedication, sweat and love for students and teaching that faculty put into the technology program at JHS.
The Johnston Industrial Technology Department was one of only 29 programs in the country to be recognized as Program of the Year by the International Technology Engineering Education Association.

Johnston Schools was selected as the premier program from the state of Iowa and received an award March 15 in Long Beach, CA.
"Thank you everyone for all you do," said JHS instructor Josh Heyer in a letter to school staff. "I believe this award is a tribute to the hard work our staff has put in promoting our program⦠Our staff values the support we have received from all administration as we continue to grow our program and create opportunities for all Johnston students."
Over the past seven years, the high school program has increased enrollment from 316 to 689 students.Β
The 9th grade enrollment has increased from 326 in 2010 to 494 requests for next year.Β
"Great things are happening in front of our eyes for our students," Heyer said. "It is time to stop and celebrate for a minute."
