Johnston Dragons 2012 Football Schedule Released

The rivalry between Johnston and Urbandale continues in class 4A football this fall.

When Johnston found itself in Division 2 without Urbandale, both schools ranked each other first in a list of who they would like to play in one of four non-division games at the beginning of the season.

The ranking was a success and the always-hyped game will take place Sept. 7 this fall - the third game of the season.

The recently released fall football schedule also pits Johnston against Dowling Catholic, Des Moines Lincoln and Waukee for non-division games.

The new conference configuration created four divisions of six teams. The first four games of the season will be non-division and won't count toward playoffs.

The final five in-division games will be the only factor in determining playoff stance. The top team in each division will advance to the playoffs.
