Those over-achieving spring flowers might get nipped early Friday morning.
The National Weather Service advises patchy frost forecast for north central and northeast Iowa could dip into central Iowa, including Johnston, where spring flowers are blooming about a month ahead of schedule.

Central Iowa counties in the watch area include Polk, Dallas and Story.
Skies will be mostly clear tonight with a low around 37. Friday, look for sunny skies with a seasonal high near 61 and breezy conditions.
