Johnston Board to Discuss $1.1 Million Addition
An addition to Timber Ridge Elementary School would accommodate district growth.

A six-room addition to could be more of a reality after tonight's Johnston Board of Education meeting.
The board will discuss and decided to approve a six-classroom, $1.1 million addition to the elementary school.
The addition will create a five-section school similar to that of Horizon and Beaver Creek elementary schools.

The addition would help to accommodate future district enrollment, programing and the district's overall facility plan.
Rather than proceed with a new elementary school, which was in the district's plan several years ago, the addition would allow more time for the district to grow and decide when to build another elementary school.

Completion of the proposed addition would be slated for May 2013.
Other board agenda items include:
- a report from Jim Casey, associate superintendent, on creating new administrative positions.
- discussion of tax information regarding the fall bond referendum.
- discussion of the fiscal year 2013 budget and establish a hearing date for the budget.
- discussion of video taping board of education meetings
