Johnston Board to Discuss $5 Fee Increase for Students, 10-Cent Hike for Meals
The Johnston Board of Education meets at 6 p.m.

Fees for students in the could be inching higher after tonight's school board meeting.
Tonight the board will discuss increasing fees for first- through fifth-grade students for the 2012-13 school year, as well as a meal cost increase.
The proposed increase of $5, which was first discussed at the Feb. 13 meeting, would bring the fee to $50.

A $5 increase is also proposed for a kindergarten fee, but the increase would not take place until the fiscal year 2014. The current kindergarten fee of $45 has already been approved by the board, as the fee is reviewed a year in advance.
There is no plan to increase fees for sixth through 12th grades.

The board will also discuss a 10-cent increase to all meals for the 2012-13 school year.
If approved elementary lunch will now cost $2.30, while breakfast will cost $1.45.
For secondary student lunch will cost $2.40, while breakfast will cost $1.70
The board meets at 6 p.m. at the Administrative Resouce Center.
