On Wednesday, it was announced that Jim Casey, associate superintendent of human resources, resigned from the district.
Casey's resignation will be effective Sept. 11, pending Johnston School Board Approval, said Laura Dillavou, communications and marketing coordinator for the school district.
Casey accepted a position with Des Moines Area Community College where he will split his time working on human resources and professional development.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for him," Dillavou said. "We as a school district will definitely miss him and recognize that his talents are an asset to any organization."
Casey, who has been with the district 18 years, was previously executive director of human resources before being named associate superintendent in 2004.
"We appreciate Dr. Casey's service with the district and wish him nothing but the best," Laura Dillavou, communications and marketing coordinator, said in a message to Johnston Patch.
