Johnston Council Honors Longtime Planning and Zoning Commissioner

Mike Wiskirchen spent 10 years on the city's Planning & Zoning Commission.

After ten years, Mike Wiskirchen left his post on the city of Johnston Planning & Zoning Commission.

On Monday, the Johnston City Council recognized Wiskirchen for his time serving the city.

"You've been an outstanding commissioner," Mayor Paula Dierenfeld said. "Your attendance was outstanding and your contribution exemplary."

Wiskirchen thanked the city for the opportunity to serve.

"It's been a very rewarding experience for me," he said. "I've talked to a number of people and encouraged them to do that. It's a good way to give back to the community and be attached to things around town."

Wiskirchen said he would think of his fellow commissioners this winter while they are fighting the ice and snow to make it to meetings, while he's in the desert.
