Johnston Couple Opens India Market in Urbandale

India Market is open for business in Urbandale, offering daily lunch specials like naan and curries, according to its website.
Ravi and Girija Menneni of Johnston opened the store at 8044 Douglas Ave. in January, reports the Des Moines Register.
The 3,000-square-foot store carries Indian and South Aisan groceries including produce, grains and spices.

Menneni had been selling fresh vegetables at local farmers markets that he grew in his garden. He told the Register he decided to expand to a storefront and bring in produce from Florida, along with other grocery items.
The store also sells prepared foods like crepes, chicken curry, vegetable curry and other items. A menu of lunch specials can be found on the store website.
