Johnston Easter Egg Hunts, Church Services and Closings

Events tied to the Easter holiday have already started, and we've put together a guide of area church services, activities and more.

• Good Friday service at 7 tonight
• Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday for children preschool to sixth grade.
• A free Easter breakfast will be served from 7:15 to 11 a.m. Sunday.
• Sunday service times are 8 to 9:15 a.m., 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Nursery will be available during service but no children's worship during all services. There will be no Sunday School, ABF Classes or Youth Activities.

Johnston River of Life

• Easter Egg Hunt at 4 p.m. Saturday at Beaver Creek Elementary School. There will be bounce houses, balloon artists, face painters, and games.  Search really good and maybe you will find one of 5 Golden Eggs. A casual worship follows at 5 p.m.

• Good Friday liturgy at 7 tonight
• Saturday: 5 p.m. Easter Holy Communion; 7 p.m. Liturgy of the Easter Vigil
• Sunday services will be at 8:30 a.m. for Holy Communion and 9:45 a.m. Easter Brunch; 11 a.m. Holy Communion

• Easter Sunday worship at 10:15 a.m.

• Easter Service 10 a.m. Sunday at Johnston Middle School

• Easter worship at 9:30 a.m. Sunday with special music by Miss Iowa Jessica Pray of Johnston
• Easter Egg Hunt at 10:45 a.m. Sunday

• Good Friday worship at 6:30 tonight
• Easter Sunday Worship at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. A free pre-service breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m.

Meredith Drive Reformed Church

• Original musical shows at 7 tonight and 7 p.m. Saturday.
• Easter Treasure Hunt at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at the Bridge Campus in Johnston. The hunt is for 4-year-olds through fourth-grade students.
• Easter Sunday worship will be at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at both campuses.

Holiday Closings

Most Johnston businesses will remain open on Sunday, but the will be closed. The library opens again on Monday.
