Johnston’s Fall Cleanup will be on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 14, 15 and 16. The hours for drop off will be 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Our Fall Cleanup is designed for Johnston residents to dispose of branches, and twigs. No leaves or grass clippings will be accepted.
The drop-off location is at the Public Works Facility located at 6400 NW Beaver Drive. City crews will not be picking items up curbside....
The City would also like to let you know that there is a City code that prohibits the placing of leaves into the street. The violation of this City code could lead to a fine of $750 for the first offense and $1,000 for each consecutive violation.
It was believed in the past that the street sweeper comes by and picks up the leaves. Although we do street sweeping in the Fall, it is not meant to pick up leaves placed in the street.
To avoid a violation and the pollution of the storm water system, please bag your leaves. City code chapter 102 also prohibits yard waste being disposed of in the storm water system. When leaves are placed in the street there is a chance that they will end up in the storm water system. This is also a $750 fine with each consecutive violation being $1,000.
