Johnston Farmers Market Brings Fresh Goods on May 22

The warm weather has been favorable for local produce growers, meaning the first market will be full of goodies.

Although frost is in the forecast for much of this week, that doesn't mean you can't look forward to the Johnston Farmers Market.

The Johnston Farmers Market will begin its season on Tuesday, May 22nd.

The weather has been so favorable for early crops this year, so there will be fresh and delicious produce as well as other favorite Market items.

There are some new vendors this year, as well as those vendors you've met and trusted for fresh picked fruits and vegetables and fresh baked goods.

Please come support our vendors and enjoy BBQ from Miss Classy, Kettle Korn from Bruce, fudge from Grandma Pat, honey from Mike, who has Wicked Honey.

We'll have fresh eggs, chickens and beef and baked breads from Donna's kitchen, Carrie and Darcy with their splendid pies and cakes and creative garden, metal art by & jewelry by fine crafters; Charles' warm and made- at- the- Market nuts. Our wonderful Asian growers of flowers and specialty veggies will join Shelley and Lyle who are produce masters.

Also performing monthly is the Johnston Station Jazz Band.  For information, please contact Judy Anderson, market managerm at andrsnjudy@mchsi.com or 278-0939.

The long time market is sponsored by the Johnston Lions Club; all proceeds go towards the Residential Tree Program, and Johnston residents can thank the Lions for thousands of trees planted over the Market's history.

The market meets each Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the parking lot.
