Johnston Girls Move On To The State Soccer Tournament
The team will play at 5 p.m. in the Thursday quarterfinals at Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines.

Following a win Monday night against Fort Dodge, the Johnston girls' soccer team is on its way to the state tournament.
Payton Thompson scored twice for Johnston (16-3) in a 5-1 win over the visiting team, according to the Des Moines Register.
Other teams advancing to the tournament, which will be played at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines, include Dowling Catholic, Waukee, and Ankeny.
Here are Register highlights from the other advancing CIML teams:
Ankeny improved to 19-0 with 18 shutouts following a 4-0 victory over Marshalltown. Dowling improved to 16-2 with a 2-1 home victory over Urbandale. Waukee moved to 15-4 after defeating visiting Valley 1-0 (4-2 on penalty kicks).
Johnston will meet 15-4 Iowa City West at the Thursday quarterfinals. The game starts at 5 p.m.
