Johnston, Grimes Now Hiring New Firefighters to Staff Second Fire Station

The Johnston Fire Department is looking for a little help.Β 

The city is now hiring full-time firefighters to staff the city's second fire station.

The second fire station, under construction at the corner of Northwest 62nd Avenue and Northwest 103rd Street, will service Johnston and Grimes.

Salary for the positions would range between $38,613.12 and $39,711.36.

Funding for the positions is shared between the two cities.

Earlier this week, the city of Johnston and city of Grimes posted the hiring notice.

The cities of Grimes and Johnston, Iowa, are currently accepting applications for full-time firefighters/EMTs to serve in each community.

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, an Iowa or National Firefighter I certification and State or National Certification as an EMT-B, EMT-P, or EMT-PS to be considered for employment.

Physical fitness and written exams are required for all positions.

Must be at least 18 years old but less than 65 years old to apply.

Exam information, including location, donate and time, will be mailed to qualified applicants. Each city offers an excellent wage and benefit package.

Individuals interested for a position with on or both of the communities must submit an employment application with copies of current certifications by October 26 to: City of Johnston, Human Resources Department, 6221 Merle Hay Road PO Box 410, Johnston, Iowa, 50131.

Applications are available at each city hall or on the Johnston or Grimes city websites.
