Johnston High School Among Top 50 in Iowa AP Index

has more than just graduation to celebrate this week.

The school was recently named among the Top 50 in the 2012 Iowa AP Index by the University of Iowa's Belin-Blank Center.

Based on the 2011 AP exam and graduation data, Johnston had an index of 0.55, enough to rank 39th in the state.

The AP Index is a ratio that helps determine the extent of Advanced Placement opportunity at a high school.

Advanced Placement is just one indicator, but it is an important indicator, of the challenges schools provide for high ability students.
