Johnston Police Warn Community of Online Predator

The released an alert Friday afternoon about a possible internet predator making the rounds in the Des Moines area. 

This week several neighboring school districts, including Waukee and West Des Moines, were notified of suspicious social media activity centered around a man claiming to be affiliated with some type of media or movie production company. 

According to the alert, "the subject befriends young females through Facebook and Skype and then precedes to request that they send him photos of themselves and asks them what could be perceived as luring or invasive personal questions."

The Johnston Police Department recommends parents monitor children's online activity to ensure they communicate with trusted sources.
