Johnston Police Blotter: Theft, Drug Charges

The Johnston Police Department responded to several calls from Dec. 13 to Dec. 19. Here is the final roundup.

Dec. 19
Employees at Walgreens, 6200 Merle Hay Road, reported a woman shoplifted.

A 55-year-old woman reported a package delivered to her home in the 10200 block of Coventry Circle was stolen.

Employees at Kum & Go, 5800 Northglenn Drive, reported receiving counterfeit $20 bills.

Dec. 18
Police responded to a call by a 41-year-old man to have his ex-wife charged with trespassing at his home in the 6300 block of Northwest 54th Court. No charges were filed.

Four juveniles and one adult were charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. One juvenile was also charged with interfering with official acts. The subjects were arrested at a residence under construction in the 8500 Long Meadow Lane.

Dec. 17
Daniel Schmelzer, 23, was arrested in Waukee on an outstanding warrant. A traffic stop led to Scmelzer's arrest.

A 16-year-old female was charged with drug paraphernalia and another 16-year-old female was cited for not having a driver's license and failure to yield.

Employees at Casey's General Store, 10010 N.W. 62nd Ave., reported a gas drive off.

Police responded to a call of verbal domestic between a father and daughter in the 9500 block of Century Woods Circle.

Dec. 16
Officers responded to a call of theft after two video game systems were stolen from Youth Homes of Mid America.

Two Johnston High School students were cited for trespassing at Johnston Middle School for being in the building after hours.

Officers responded to a report of harassment via Facebook between two juveniles in the 6200 block of Merle Hay Road.

A Johnston Middle School student was charged with possession of marijuana.

A 51-year-old woman reported her garage door was damaged by a post office vehicle in the 5700 block for Foxboro Road.

Dec. 13
A 32-year-old female was charged with fraudulent practice after altering a paycheck in the 6221 block of Merle Hay Road.
