Johnston Police Respond To Attempted Break-in, Warn Residents To Be Aware

The Johnston Police Department reported to an attempted forced entry burglary in the Northwood Estates neighborhood this afternoon.

A Johnston resident came home Thursday to catch a would-be burglar trying to break into the house, prompting a warning from the .

At about noon Thursday, officers were called to the 9100 block of Northwest 72nd Circle in the Northwood Estates on a report of an attempted break-in. Police said the resident returned home to find someone trying to break into the house through a side garage door.

The resident was uninjured in the incident and the suspect was not able to enter the house. The suspect fled before police arrived.

The suspect was described as a white man, about 18 years old with a thin build and dark brown hair. He leftΒ the scene in what the homeowner described as a newer dark-colored Chrysler 300.

Police ask residents to be altert for any suspicious people or vehicles matching the descriptions.
