Johnston Police Seek Community's Help in Kum & Go Gas Drive-Off

The Johnston Police Department released an alert about a reported theft of cigarettes from a local Kum & Go store.

A gas drive-off has asking the community for help in identifying a man for questioning.

On May 18 at about 11 p.m. employees at the at 5225 N.W. 86th St. reported a man filled his vehicle with fuel and drove away without paying.

According to the police report, the subject fueled up what is described as a black Chevy Avalanche with a temporary paper license plate.

The man then entered the store and attempted to pay for the fuel with a credit card.

When the transaction was denied the subject handed the clerk the card and said he lived nearby and promised to return shortly with money for the fuel.

As of today, the subject has not returned to the store or paid for the $61 worth of fuel.

Witnesses described the man as about 6'2" tall, and weighing 225 pounds with dark shaved hair, scruffy facial hair and wearing a gray long-sleeved T-shirt.

The Johnston Police Department wants to question this person about any possible knowledge or involvement he may have had in the gas theft.
