Johnston Police Seek Community's Help in Solving Kum & Go Theft
The Johnston Police Department released an alert regarding a reported theft of cigarettes from a local Kum & Go store.

The Johnston Police Department is asking for the community's help in identifying someone for questioning in a recent theft.
According to the report, at about 8:50 p.m. on March 10 an African-American man tried to purchase two packs of Newport cigarettes at the store, 5800 Northglenn Drive.Β The man's credit card was declined.
When the store clerk told the man of the declined transaction, the man picked up the cigarettes and left the store without paying, the police report said.

It is believed the man left the area on foot.
Witnesses described the man as wearing dark-colored jeans, a white T-shirt with a black jacket and a black baseball-style hat with ear flaps.

The hat had a silver circular sticker on the top of the bill and the words "Black Yankees" written across the front.
The Johnston Police Department wants to question the man about his knowledge or involvement he may have had in the theft.
Anyone with information about the identity and/or whereabouts of the man in the photo is asked to contact Johnston Police Detective Travis Hamilton at 252-1365 or the Polk County Crime Stoppers at 223-1400.
