Johnston Police Warn Parents of Man Who Tried to Lure Child to Truck

On Monday a man motioned to a child to come over to his truck. While no crime was committed, police want to know more about the encounter and make parents aware of the incident.

Johnston Police officers were called to a residence in the 10000 block of Windsor Parkway Oct. 22 after an unidentified man tried to make contact with a 10-year-old juvenile who was playing alone in his yard, according to a police department news release.

According to the report, at about 4:45 p.m. on Monday a man driving a red pickup stopped in front of the residence where the child was playing and motioned for the child to come over to his truck. When the child refused, the driver appeared like he was going to pull into the driveway, so the child ran into his house and told his parents.

No words were exchanged, police said, and the truck was last seen leaving the area southbound on Northwest 100th Street.
