Johnston Reminds Residents to Curb Water Use

As the drought continues, the city and Des Moines Water Works is reminding residents of the plan to cut water use by 10 percent.

As the drought continues, the city of Johnston, reminds residents of the plan with Des Moines Water Works to cut back water use by 10 percent.

The city along with Des Moines Water Works and other suburb communities, has implemented Stage 1 of the Water Conservation Plan.

Stage 1 of the plan requires water usage to be reduced by 10 percent and focuses primarily on water used to irrigate lawns.

Johnston residents are strongly encouraged to reduce their water usage by voluntarily shutting off their irrigation systems or, if that is not possible, significantly reducing the amount of time the system is on.

Cooperation of all metro area residents is needed to help keep our water towers full and water pressures elevated.
