Pony Up the Money: Johnston's Dollars For Scholars Dinner is Saturday

Join the Johnston Dollars for Scholars for a night of dining and entertaining at the ninth annual Johnston Dollars for Scholars dinner and auction on Saturday.

Johnston Dollars for Scholars, which was established in 1987, is a non-profit organization of community volunteers who raise money to assist graduating seniors pursue their dreams.

The group's goal is to give every senior financial assistance as they continue their education.

The event includes dinner, entertainment by Dueling Pianos, a silent auction and live auction at 6:30 p.m. at the .

This year's dinner features more than 70 silent auction items including Iowa Energy, Iowa Barnstormer and Iowa Cubs tickets, a side of beef, Iowa State University and University of Iowa memorabilia, art, Civic Center tickets, and dinners at local restaurants.

Live auction items include a year's supply of dry cleaning, and a brand new John Deere riding lawn mower.

Tickets, which are $35, are available for purchase from the Johnston Community Schools District Office, at the Johnston Hy-Vee Store, or any Johnston Dollars for Scholars board member.
