Johnston School Board Approves Elevator Renovation, Fee Increases
The Johnston school board approved the renovation of the Johnston High School elevator in the amount of $317,350.

The Johnston school board approved a measure Monday night to award a $371,350 contract to Edge Commercial.
The contract includes the base for the elevator and a metal wall panel removal and replacement.

Construction on the elevator will start at the end of the school year. Completion is set for August.

- approved an increase in fees of $5 for first- to fifth-grade students for the 2012-13 school year. Fees for students in those grades will total $50. The measure also increases the fee for kindergarten students to $50 beginning in the 2013-14 school year.
- approved a 10-cent increase across the board for meals. The increase, which does not include an increase for milk, brings the cost of breakfast to $1.70 and lunch to $2.40 for secondary students. The increase brings the cost of breakfast to $1.45 and lunch to $2.30 for elementary students.
