Johnston School Board to Discuss Facilities, Peer Program
Facility options will again be reviewed Monday, including a recommended new high school to house grades.s 10-12.

The will further discuss facility options at Monday's meeting.
The administration will provide information and an update regarding facilities recommendations outlined at the Sept. 28 board work session.
The recommendation included:
- Building a new high school housing grades 10-12 at an estimated cost of $75 million,
- Remodeling the existing high school to house grades 8-9,
- Remodeling Johnston Middle School to house students currently at Wallace Elementary School at an estimated cost of $2.5 million,
- Re-purposing Wallace Elementary to potentially house the schoolβs administrative office, preschool students, or an alternative school.
The administration will also recommend an additional work session for Oct. 31 or Nov. 1 or Nov. 2.

Board members will also discuss a peer partner art course in the district.Β The elective course is designed to provide an art course for students with disabilities working in a peer partner relationship. The goal is to bridge a gap between students with and without disabilities through art.

The board meets at 6 p.m. Monday at the district offices, 5608 Merle Hay Road.
