Johnston School's Facility Meeting to Address New High School, Future Plans
The Johnston school district hosts a public information meeting at 7 p.m. to discuss the 10-year facility plan.
As work continues on the Johnston school district's 10-year plan for buildings, the community is invited to a public information meeting.
At the meeting, administrators will provide a progress report on the , move the eighth- and ninth-grade middle school to the current high school and the repurposing of the current middle school and Wallace Elementary.
The construction of the 325,000-square-foot high school is expected to cost about $72 to $75 million. The repurposing of the high school to house middle school students and the renovations needed to move students from Wallace Elementary to the current middle school is estimated between $18 and $21.5 million. The estimates do not include any renovations to the current Wallace building.
The possible timeline would have the new high school opening on July 15, 2015.
