Johnston Third at Boys' State Swim Meet, 2 Wrestlers Win Trip to State
Johnston high school athletes were busy over the weekend.

The weekend was a success for several Johnston High School athletes.
The Johnston boys' swim team raked in accolades at the state swim ,eet in Marshalltown, while the Dragon wrestling team headed to the district tournament at Dowling Catholic High School.
State Swim Meet
The Dragons placed third at the in team scoring. The team had 127.5 points, while first place team, Mucsatine had 177.5 points.

Individual race results:
- The team of Tyler Cracraft, Justin Winnett, Reed Molander and Brian Ross placed second in the 200 medley relay.
- Brain Ross placed third in the 50 freestyle, while Tyson Wieland placed eighth.
- Reed Molander placed fifth in the 100 butterfly.
- Tyler Cracraft placed eighth in the 100 freestyle, Tyson Wieland placed 10th and Adam Rieck placed 12th.
- The Johnston team placed fourth in the 200 freestyle relay.
- Tyler Cracraft placed seventh in the 100 backstroke.
- Justin Winnett placed second in the 100 breaststroke.
- The team of Tyson Wieland, Adam Rieck, Tyler Cracraft and Brian Ross placed third in the 400 freestyle relay.
Wrestling
made the trip to Dowling Catholic for the district wrestling tournament and a chance to fill a spot on the state wrestling bracket.

Senior Joe Scanlon won a trip to the state tournament later this week in the 3A 220-pound category.
Sophomore Jake Scanlon also won a trip to the state tournament in the 3A 285-pound category.
Last year, Joe Scanlong placed fifth at the state tournament in the 215-pound bracket. Jake Scanlon placed seventh at the state tournament in the 285-pound bracket.
The state wrestling tournament kicks off on Thursday with the first round and first round consolation of class 3A at 9 a.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.
