Johnston Urbandale Soccer Club Receives Large Donation
The Johnston Urbandale Soccer Club received a hefty donation from Scheels Monday for the Karen Coaldrake Financial Assistance Fund.
More local kids will have the opportunity to play in the thanks to a generous donation Monday morning.
Scheels, at Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines, donated $10,000 to the Karen Coaldrake Financial Assistance Fund.
"We sincerely appreciate Scheels continued support," said Ozzie White, director of the club. "Scheels is our partner, not just merchandise provider, but a community partner interested in fostering and developing a relationship locally for the benefit of the children."

This is the second year the store has donated $10,000 for the fund. For the past several years the club, Scheels, and Nike have built a soccer department in the store. It's now fully equipped with JUSC soccer apparel, JUSC athletes on posters and a video with player clips.
Jeff Smaha, club president, said the relationship between Scheels and JUSC has evolved over the last several years.

"The partnership made the whole community recognize this is a real foundation," he said of the Karen Coaldrake Financial Assistance Fund. "It helps kids get out there playing."
