Johnston Welcomes Two New Police Officers With Swearing-In Ceremony
Officers Steven Johnson and Doug Glenn join the Johnston Police Department.
The Johnston Police Department has two new officers joining the force.
On Monday, Mayor Paula Dierenfeld swore in officers Steven Johnson and Doug Glenn, bringing the number on the force to 25.
Johnson, who goes by J.J., started work in April, but had to first attend the Police Academy before taking his post.

Johnson, originally from Decorah, served the country in Iraq from 2005 to 2007.
Glenn comes to the Johnston Police Department after spending 17 years with the Polk County Sheriff's Department as a deputy and K-9 handler.

Glenn, originally from Johnston, is a reservist and served in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
"You're moving to a wonderful police force," Dierenfeld said to the officers prior to swearing them in. "You have a great boss in Chief (Bill) Vaughn.
Johnson was joined at the ceremony by his wife and seven-week-old daughter.
Glenn was joined by his six-year-old daughter.
