KCCI Anchor to Become City's Public Information Officer

Emily Price will soon join the city of Johnston as its public information officer.

The Johnston City Council on Monday approved hiringΒ KCCI-TV anchor and reporterΒ Emily Price as the city’s public information officer, the Des Moines Register reported.

The weekend evening anchor was selected from 141 applicants, the city said.

Johnston City AdministratorΒ Jim Sanders told the newspaperΒ Price wished to wait until the council approved hiring her before resigning at KCCI. β€œEmily has a background that will help us do a better job of communicating with our citizens,” said Sanders, who added that the position has been vacant for some time because of budget constraints.

Price will help lead the city’s social media efforts and will be a key media contract and a voice on Johnston city issues, Sanders told the Register. Price will be paid $70,000 annually, with the potential for a $2,500 pay increase after six months of probation.
