Good teachers understand the more students know about their own environment, the more they care about the choices they make. Metro Waste Authority (MWA), along with Des Moines Water Works (DMWW), provides great education programs to expand students’ knowledge and sow seeds for becoming good environmental stewards—and good examples for their families, too!
Who Teaches and What Do We Teach About?
Two full-time accredited teachers (one from MWA and the other from DMWW) are in Des Moines Metro area schools nearly every day. They lead 16 different interactive and stimulating programs about recycling and waste reduction, landfill operations, household hazardous waste, water pollution and protection—and that’s just for starters.
