Labor Day: What's Open, What's Closed in Johnston
Sure, you get the day off, but with all the closures, will you be able to get the things done you need to this Labor Day?

Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 3 and the unofficial end to summer. What are your plans?
Well, in case your plans involve running errands next Monday, Johnston Patch threw this together to remind you which major offices in town will not be open on Labor Day.

- All city offices, which includes and the office will be closed all day Monday.
- City Hall will re-open Tuesday at 8 a.m.
- All Johnston schools are out of sesson on Monday; classes resume Tuesday.
- The library will be closed all day Sunday and Monday.
- The library will reopen at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

- The post office will be closed all day Monday. There will be no mail delivered as well.
- The post office will reopen Tuesday at 9 a.m.
Garbage Pickup
- Metro Waste Authority: Recycling, yard wast, and garbage will not be collected Monday. Regular collection will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week, with regular Friday collection delayed to Saturday.
Some other closures to remember:
- All banks are closed on Monday in observance of Labor Day.
- The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority will follow a Sunday schedule on Labor Day with its regular schedule resuming Tuesday.
If shopping is your thing, Merle Hay Mall will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Labor Day.
