Yesterday was one of the most dreaded days on the calendar - Tax Day.
However, a few things are working in favor of the procrastinators out there.

But today is Emancipation Day, a holiday in the District of Columbia.
According to federal law, District of Columbia holidays affect tax deadlines just as federal holidays do, the IRS says. So the rest of the country gets an extra day to file its taxes, as well.

And if you still can't meet that deadline, you can file an extension. That will give you until Oct. 15 to file a return. The bad news is that you still have to pay your estimated taxes on April 17.
And, you have until April 30 to file your Iowa state income tax return.
You have until 5 p.m. to postmark your taxes in Johnston.
