Looking for Pub Fun Saturday Night — But Still Want to Respect Yourself in the Morning?

If you want to get out of the house and have a few, have we got a great excuse for you.

Running out of excuses to get out of the house to have a few with the boys — or girls — on a Saturday night?

Well, how about this one: “Um, honey, I need to run to a few bars and, um, maybe help save some lives.”

You can use that one this Saturday and get a night out with the added benefit of having told the truth — and the even more important benefit of helping save some lives.

Derek Hannah, our Central Iowa blogger extraordinaire, is helping organize the 7th Annual Crawl for a Cure Pub Crawl, a fun fundraiser that helps raise some much-needed funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The crawl goes from noon till 5 p.m. Saturday in downtown Des Moines, with stops at Hessen Haus, Shorty’s, El Bait Shop, High Life Lounge and Royal Mile.

For $30 per person — or $25 if you have a team of four or more people — you’ll get a free draw at each of the five bars.

For more information or to sign up, contact cancer survivor Steve Ellens at (515) 480-5804, see this Facebook Page or visit this web site.

The first 200 people to register online get door prizes, including a drawstring backpack and an event mug.
