What: Night With The Neighbors
When/Where: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in several neighborhoods in Johnston
Why go: Getting to know your neighbors is a great way to build friendships, community, and a sense of safety and well-being in your neighborhood. The City of Johnston will host “Night with the Neighbors” in several neighborhoods within Johnston. Meet council members and city staff.

When/Where: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Living History Farms
Why go: The smell of apple fills the air in the town of Walnut Hill. Tour the Farm sites in the morning, and spend the afternoon in our 1875 town celebrating the coming of fall fruit! Try your hand at stirring the copper kettle of apple butter; crank the cider press, and sample apple fritters fresh out of the Dutch oven. Children’s games and crafts round out the fun. Iowa Orchard will bring their market of pies by the slice, apples, and other goodies available for purchase.
Cost: $12.50 for adults, $11.50 for seniors, $7 for children 12 and under.
