WARNING: Does Hazardous Waste Lurk Under the Sink?
If so, get rid of it the safe and smart way. Not sure which ones are hazardous? Look at the labels. Do they read: Flammable, Keep Away from Children, Toxic or Corrosive? These are the types of items accepted for free. The City of Windsor Heights hosts the final event from 8 a.m. to Noon, Oct. 26 at Colby Park.
Come prepared by reviewing a full list of accepted and not accepted items. Note items NOT accepted include:
- Latex paint (learn how to safely dispose in garbage)
- Electronic waste (find other local options)
- Pharmaceuticals (read about local take-backs)
- Tires (area drop-offs)
Year-Round Option
If this date doesn't work for you, you can visit our year-round drop-off in Bondurant. The City of Des Moines also accepts these items at SCRUB Events, which are ONLY for Des Moines residents.
