Pancake Breakfast Draws Big Crowd and Raises Money for Johnston Fire Department

Johnston firefighters pull out all the stops, climbing the aerial ladder, timing themselves donning equipment and more.

About 400 people ate pancakes at the Johnston Fire Department during a Johnston Firefighters Association fund-raising breakfast Saturday morning during Green Days.

One firefighter donned all of his equipment and climbed to the top of the aerial ladder. Another was timed on how quickly he could put on his equipment, from boots to coat and breathing apparatus.

The Grimes Fire Department cooked and served the food with some help from the Johnston Fire Department. The Grimes Fire Department held its pancake breakfast in May and the Johnston Fire Department cooked and served the food for that event.
