PHOTOS: How Much Did Johnston Carwash Raise For Children's Miracle Network?

Johnston's Farrell's Extreme Bodyshaping hosted a car wash fundraiser as part of Nationwide Miracle Challenge.

It could have been the most successful car wash in the history of Des Moines.

OK, it might not be difficult to determine success at that level, but Ciera Lundgren of Urbandale certainly thought the fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network was a hit.

"In the first two hours we've made about $800," she said heading into the last hour of the donation-based fundraiser held in the parking lot of the Johnston gym where she's a member.

After the three-hour event concluded, the car wash had raised $1,300 for the Children's Miracle network.

Lundgren was the catalyst for the over the last 10 weeks. She's the current Miss Greenbelt and will compete in the Miss Iowa competition this summer.

Each Miss Iowa competitor must raise at least $350 for the Children's Miracle Network.

Because this is Lundgren's last opportunity to compete in the Miss Iowa pageant, she wanted to go all out in fundraising for the network.

"It's been amazing," she said of the turnout and support. "We've had one car after another since 10 a.m. Words cannot describe how humble I feel, I never asked businesses to help before because of the economy, but with a great cause they have all been supportive."
