Five teams competed in both singles and doubles competition. Find out where the Johnston girls placed in the invitational, which was held April 6.

Johnston hosted the 2013 Johnston Girls Tennis Invitational on Saturday, April 6. The invitational included teams from West Des Moines Valley, Waukee, Fort Dodge, Newton and Pella Christian.
The varsity competition included #1 and #2 singles and #1 and #2 doubles. Matches consisted of each schoolβs teams playing 1 set in each of these groups. Winners of singles matches earned 2 team points while doubles winners earned 1 team point. JV doubles teams also competed.

The overall tournament team winner was Valley with a 1 point margin over 2nd place Johnston 24 to 23. Waukee finished 3rd with 15 team points followed by Fort Dodge, Newton and Pella Christian.

#1 singles β Sophomore Liera Bender finished in 2nd place with a record of 4-1
#2 singles β Senior Payton Kintz finished in 2nd place with a record of 3-2
#1 doubles β Senior Karly Palmer and Sophomore Eisha Nathwani finished in 1st place with a record of 5-0
#2 singles β Senior Kylie Poulson and Sophomore EmmaGrace Walter finished in 2nd place with a record of 4-1
