Volunteers from across the Des Moines metro offered a hand to low-income homeowners on Saturday.

event brought together more than 700 volunteers to work on day-long projects for 40 homes.

Scott Cooley, of Granger and a member of the Johnston Rotary, captained a team of about 40 volunteers to complete a number of projects including dirt work.
