Got Drugs? Get Rid of Them Safely April 28 at Johnston City Hall

Johnston residents doing a little spring cleaning can hit the medicine cabinet and get rid of expired prescription drugs on April 28.

The and the Drug Enforcement Administration will offer a Drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at .

The day allows residents to rid their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to misuse and abuse.

According to a Johnston Police news release on the event, rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.

In October, Johnston residents rid their homes of of unwanted or expired prescription drugs at at Take Back Day.

Because of the success and popularity of the Take Back Day event the police department will continue hosting the event.
