Johnston Road Construction Continues As New School Year Begins
Drivers are reminded to use caution when traveling to Johnston's three schools along Northwest 62nd Avenue.

Road Β doesn't have to mean a headache for Johnston parents and teen drivers headed to a new school year Thursday.
Construction of four roundabouts and widening of the road is now in the home stretch.
Dave Cubit, public works director, said a final traffic shift occurred on Monday morning. The current traffic pattern should last until the project is complete in six to eight weeks.

, and are all located on the road, which has been under construction since September 2011.
"Everybody just needs to exercise caution," Cubit said of commuters. "It's a construction zone, there is heavy equipment moving around and construction workers moving around. In a construction zone be alert, pay attention."

Cubit reminded residents there are stop lights on Northwest 62nd and intersections at Pioneer Parkway and South Drive, but those have been in place for a while.
"The big thing is just be patient and give yourself time," he said.
There are several other areas of construction around Johnston.
Road work related to the construction of a senior housing development and new public safety building is taking place along 64th Street and 63rd Street.
Construction continues on 62nd Street of 100th Street in conjunction with the city's second fire station project.
City staff members and Foth Engineering will host a public information meeting about roundabouts on 62nd Avenue at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Johnston Public Library.
