Snow Forecast by Evening Commute in Johnston; Freezing Drizzle Possible

Johnston and the rest of central Iowa could see up to 3 inches of new snow in a storm expected to move into the Des Moines metro area around the evening commute, according to the National Weather Service.

That could make travel difficult, especially on side streets where large ice chunks that remain on streets from last week’s blizzard could be obscured by the new snow. Public works officials around the Des Moines metro told the Des Moines Register today that sustained temperatures below 20 have made made salt and other ice-melting solutions ineffective.
