Summit Students Take Road to Success at State Technology Competition
Students in the Summit Middle School technology program in Johnston competed in the State TSA Conference.

Twenty-two sixth- and seventh-grade technology students competed at the annual State TSA Conference in Altoona, Iowa.
They were accompanied by advisors Ron Trobaugh and Rob Robison and chaperones Linda Trobaugh, Stephen Breeden, Brian Johnson, and Holly Merz.

The theme for 2012 was “The Road to Success”.
Students took that road to success by competing in a variety of challenging events ranging from Structural Engineering to Promotional Design.

Jack Pauley earned a silver award for TSA Achievement. Very few Iowa TSA members have accomplished this feat. The Chapter Excellence trophy was awarded to the Summit TSA Chapter.
Chapter President, Carter Lundgren’s interview enabled Summit TSA to capture this prestigious trophy.
Caitlin Remakel, the chapter reporter, was elected to the state officer team for 2012-2013 school year.
Advisor Ron Trobaugh was awarded the 2012 Jim Coffey Inspirational Advisor Award given out to recognize outstanding chapter advisors.
It was a very successful state conference for Summit TSA. Members are now
looking forward to advancing to Nashville, Tenn., to compete in the National
TSA Conference on June 21-25, 2012.
