The Adjutant General's Concert Series: Abby Normal

The Adjutant General of Iowa, Maj. Gen. Tim Orr, cordially invites you to Camp Dodge for the 2014 Adjutant General's Summer Concert Series at the historic Camp Dodge pool complex, 7105 NW 70th Avenue, Johnston. The concert series, which is free and open to the public, consists of five concerts on Thursdays in May and June, beginning May 22 and ending June 26. Concerts start at 7 p.m.

Concessions will be available and coolers and picnic baskets are also welcome. Please bring your lawn chairs. In the event of inclement weather, concerts will be rescheduled, if possible.

The Iowa-based bands playing at the historic Camp Dodge pool complex include: Latin/rock band The Tony Valdez Large Band (May 22); ‘80s classic rock band Abby Normal (May 29); vintage country, rockabilly, and jump blues band, The El Dorados (June 5) (this concert will also include a classic car and motorcycle Cruise Night starting at 4:30 p.m. with reserved parking for participating vehicles); rock/alternative country/ band The Nadas (June 12); and  the Iowa National Guard 34th Army Band’s pop and classic rock ensemble Sidewinder (June 26). Visitors can enter Camp Dodge through either the main gate at NW 70th Ave., Johnston or the historic East Gate at 7700 NW Beaver Drive, Johnston. Photo identification (a driver's license is acceptable) is required for admittance to Camp Dodge for individuals 16 years of age and older.

Note that ALL motorcyclists (drivers and passengers) on Camp Dodge are required by Dept. of Defense policy to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) consisting of helmet, eye protection (full-face shield or goggles or sunglasses), gloves, long pants, long-sleeved shirt or jacket, and over-the-ankle footwear while traveling on Camp Dodge. Motorcyclists without the required PPE may park their motorcycles at the NW Beaver Drive gate turnaround and walk to the pool complex (approximately three blocks).
