This Week in Johnston Weather: How Long is This Heat Sticking Around?

A glance at Johnston weather for the week of July 8, 2013.

This week, Mother Nature will throw the entire gamut of summer weather at us.

Lucky for us though, the best of it will come toward the end of the week.

The beginning of the week will bring some hot temps, according to the National Weather Service, with the heat index reaching 103 degrees by Tuesday. There's also a chance of thunderstorms tonight into Tuesday night, but the hot, wet weather will give way to clear, sunny skies and high temps in the lower 80s by the end of this week.

Here's a glance at the details of this week's forecast:

Monday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. South wind around 6 mph.

Tuesday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 92. Heat index values as high as 102. South wind 7 to 13 mph.  

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 83. North wind 11 to 13 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 83.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 84.

Friday night, we may see a chance of thunderstorms. By Saturday and Sunday, temps will likely increase to the mid to upper 80s.
