A look at this week's weather forecast for Johnston and the surrounding communities, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain, rain – will you go away?
This week, it just might. At least for a little while.
With the exception of a rainy start, Johnston and other parts of central Iowa might actually see some spring-like sunshine and temperatures later this work week.
According to the National Weather Service, there’s a good chance of storms and rain Tuesday into Wednesday. The rest of the week, however, will see plenty of sun and temps hovering near 70 degrees.
Here’s a glance at the details of this week’s forecast:
Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 56. Southeast wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
Tuesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 1pm, then showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. High near 66. Southeast wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 72. Calm wind becoming west northwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning.
Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 69.
Friday looks to be a gorgeous day with no chance of rain (yet) and a high temperature of 71 degrees. Rain will likely move back into our area Saturday and there’s a good chance of storms by Sunday.
