Seniors Syroka, Aldrich and Noble Honored as Outstanding Students by Johnston Schools Foundation

The Johnston Community School Foundation's recognitions aren't just for teachers and alumni.
Three Johnston High School seniors are being recognized as outstanding students at Friday's event.

Syroka serves as the Johnston High School student council president.

Syroka told the Des Moines Register that while he's been part of many activities at JHS he's most proud of the creation of the JHS Silver Cord Program.
βI truly feel thereβs no other place like Johnston in terms of the plethora of activities that students can jump into,β he told the Register. βIβve been so fortunate to spend my whole life here.β
Kaitlyn Aldrich, according to the Register article, has been part of several activities such as band, color guard, Math Club and French Bowl.
βIβve had so many opportunities, and I want to use them to be a role model to younger students,β she said told the Register. βI would love to inspire someone to say, βI want to be like Kaitlyn.β That would be a huge honor.β
Mackensie Noble is no stranger to the banquet.
She told the Register she's served at the banquet the past three years. Now she'll be involved in a different way.
Over the years she's been involved in many activities, her proudest has been fundraising, she told the Register.
βSophomore year was the first cancer event I was involved in; we raised $2,500. And this year, the Big Give raised over $10,000,β she said told the Register. βWeβve had a lot of staff members who have been affected by cancer, so it hit home for a lot of us, and I was happy to be able to help in some way."
The foundation banquet will also honor .Β
Jerry Quick, a 1980 graduate of the school district, will be inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame, while Gary Busby, a graduate of the district and educator in the district for 35 years, will be inducted into the Educator Hall of Fame.
Current educators Kathy Paul, Jake Randall and Josh Morgan will be honored as 'outstanding educators'.
The Hall of Fame Banquet will take place at 6 p.m. at on Friday, April 13. The program includes a special performance by the Johnston Middle School eighth-grade Opus Choir.

The Johnston Community Schools Foundation is a non-profit and non-governmental organization providing resources for students to promote education excellence.
The Foundation funds school-based learning programs to benefit students directly.
