The bond issue is just part of a that includes renovating the current high school to house eighth and ninth grade classes, renovating the current middle school to house student from Wallace Elementary and a district-wide preschool program. Wallace would then be renovated to house the district administrative offices.
The district has hosted more than 30 meetings outlining the facility plans including at Johnston Middle School.

The bond must have a 60-percent favorable vote or it fails. If that happens, the Johnston school board will have to determine next steps, which could include another bond election in April 2013. If the bond fails, the district would have to continue to use modular classrooms at Johnston Middle School, Beaver Creek and Horizon elementary schools.
